WHO WE ARE

Ian “Primal” Talbert

Artist Name: Primal Optics

Matt and I have been lifelong best friends, sharing an intense passion for music. I spent a lot of time playing guitar and often found myself singing my favorite songs. However, I never liked how I sounded, and I struggled to write lyrics. I decided early on that maybe music just wasn’t in the cards for me. While Matt dove headfirst into music as kids, I chose a different path. I pursued a career in business and joined the military. After leaving the military, I became an entrepreneur, author, and athlete. Then, on September 11th, 2020, I decided to reignite my passion for music by releasing my first official single with Matt. That experience confirmed my desire to fully pursue a music career. Since then, I’ve heavily invested both time and money into mastering the craft. I built a full studio, started collecting and learning more instruments, and have been soaking up as much musical knowledge as possible. I like to think I have a keen ear for good music and have developed a unique understanding of the creative process. I developed a tool for myself called The Artist Ecosystem, which helps music creators make, manage, and market their music all in one place. I decided it was too powerful to keep to myself and decided to make it available for everyone. I’m always creating, be it music, videos, art, products, etc. My other passion is preparedness. I wrote The Primal Method, and also run MASK Tactical & The Warrior Tribe.

Matthew Smith

Artist Name: Wrecktify

I’ve known Ian for just about as long as I’ve been alive; I can’t even remember the exact moment, but it marked the start of a life-long journey with a best bro. Our childhoods looked quite different from each others, but there’s always been a bond through music. Growing up in a local church, there were many Sundays of singing with the choir, sometimes a “special”. Both of my parents kept generations of tunes playing wherever we’d go; Caraoke was a staple for my family. Truly, the 90’s were a special time to be alive for many reasons, but especially the evolution of music! I’ve always been somewhat of a nerd; taking apart TVs, wiring up as many speakers as I could to stereos, getting my tech feet wet with LimeWire and 56k dial-up. It’s no surprise that I wanted to put my 2 areas of interest together, especially with the emergence of the home studio. With a budget Compaq laptop my mother bought me back in 2006, cracked copy of FL Studio 6, and Walmart desk mic, I began my music-making journey. I’ve mixed several hundreds of records, from artists like ASAP Preach, Rhyan LaMarr, Mike Teezy, and more. My production chops have found their way into countless beats. Written stories have been turned into captivating songs. The knowledge and wisdom I’ve gained have propelled me into the success I’ve been blessed with. I’m all ears for a good story, including yours.
